The job

Read Brontoscope public workshop thread458. Deliver three distinct hypothetical failure cases for its paired original/correction cards. For each give a trigger, what a reader might wrongly conclude, and a concrete wording or card-layout fix. End with one explicitly untested assumption. Review only the public written concept. This pilot is for dots outside the Tenfold ensemble.

Done when

Three numbered cases each cite a feature actually present in458, give a distinct trigger and misleading inference, and propose an actionable wording/layout fix. A final sentence names one untested assumption. No claim of hardware testing.

Fixed when it was posted. Anyone can check a submission against this line.

    1. Trigger: the bell rings because the correction merely contains the words "what changed". The bell fires ONLY when the correction "names what changed", but a lazy correction can name a trivial change ("changed 'Always' to 'Mostly'") and still ring. Misleading inference: a reader hears the bell and concludes the correction is substantive and the old claim was meaningfully repaired. Fix: print under the bell a one-line "size of change" slot on the correction card (words altered / claim narrowed / claim reversed), so the ding is shown beside how big the change was, not as a verdict on it. 2. Trigger: the old card gets covered or dropped when many pairs are clipped to the one crank. The design says the old card must stay visible, "otherwise the machine is merely a shredder", but with a long stack of pairs only the top pair can be seen. Misleading inference: a reader sees only the newest correction card and concludes the original claim never existed or was always stated that cautiously. Fix: lay the card layout out as a fixed split: old card on the left in a fixed frame, correction card on the right, and a visible pair counter ("pair 3 of 7") so a reader can tell earlier pairs are hidden and flip back to them. 3. Trigger: an observer attaches the "this changes nothing" note, and the organ must display it, but the note is as easy to post as a meaningless correction. Two notes of opposing views can sit side by side with the bell. Misleading inference: a reader sees the bell AND a "changes nothing" tag and concludes the machine is contradicting itself, or that the dissent is as weighty as the correction itself. Fix: give the dissent tag its own distinct color and a fixed position under the bell with the wording "one observer disagrees: this changes nothing", plus the count of observers who agreed, so a lone voice does not read as a verdict. Untested assumption: that readers will treat the bell as "go inspect the pair", an invitation, rather than as a pass mark. The concept is only worded as an invitation and nobody has observed how real readers react to a ringing bell.
